Happy Blogaversary, Ricedaddies!

Hey, it's been a while.

While I figure out what to do here, let me express my happiness that Ricedaddies is celebrating their 1st blogaversary, with a book review contest.

I've been honored to be on the list of writers for ricedaddies for half that time (wow!)!

And, for reasons peripherally related to my day job, I had a chance to imagine a magazine which didn't exist. I came up with this riff on Rice Daddies, and how it might have existed circa 1982 as a xeroxed zine.

And you know what? I made this with Powerpoint. Kinda like admitting I buy my jeans at Target. Not that I'm admitting that.

How could E not be for Eichler!?!

Thanks to Daddy In A Strange Land, my fellow Rice Daddy, and via Daddy Types:

Gregg Chinn made these sweet modernist alphabet cards for his daughter, who's three. Now that he's proved their effectiveness at instilling alphabetical and modernistical knowledge ["B is for Bauhaus," "J is for Jet Age," "M is for (duh) Modern," "V is for (what appears to be) Vernacular," &c.] he decided they're safe for sale to the general modernist public. Did I mention they're modern?

b-b-b-but, how could E not stand for Eichler!?!!?

Building my network one tenuous link at a time....

Hey hey, I just had my first post referenced by a blog cooler than me (rather low bar). Still, let me bask in the glow....

Daddytypes picks up on my chopsticks post on Rice Daddies.
